Paul Purgas

Paul originally trained as an architect and works primarily within the fields of sound, performance and installation, addressing themes relating to musical anthropology, sonic space, non-western belief systems and industrial production.

A large-scale sound and light installation. Working with fundamental room frequencies and improvised audio feedback that impacts and resonates a vast concrete space, with low-frequency sound.

A meditative multisensory object. Constructed around a shifting audio oscillator, fused with a hacked Post Office weighing scale and Diwali prayer lamp with burning scented oil.

Infrastructure of Feeling

A generative public library and resource area. A cybernetics inspired lighting system produced from emotional audio analysis of cross-genre commercial music recordings, that creates keywords and search criteria for online texts.
